Legal Engineer

Work with partners and innovation teams at law firms to turn how they practise into AI workflows that run the same way every time.

Location

Type
Full time

Competitive salary + equity

About the role

Legal engineers sit between lawyers and our engineers. With each practice group you will find the work worth automating, map how it is done today, and build it as a workflow in CompleteFlow: fixed steps, AI where the reading and drafting happens, and sign-off wherever judgement is needed.

You will also train innovation lawyers at the firms we work with to build their own workflows, and bring what you learn back into the product.

What you will do

  • Run discovery sessions with practice groups and agree what good looks like before anything is built.
  • Design and build workflows from firms’ own precedents, templates and report formats: reports on title, lease reports, due diligence, chronologies and drafting.
  • Write and run evaluations, so every workflow is measurably accurate before it goes live.
  • Train and support innovation lawyers to build, test and share workflows across their firm.
  • Work with our engineers on what the product does next.

What you will bring

  • A legal background: a qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive, or a knowledge lawyer or legal technologist, ideally from a document-heavy practice such as real estate, corporate, disputes or private client.
  • Precision with language, and a structured way of breaking a process into steps.
  • Curiosity about AI and comfort with logic, templates and structured data. Coding is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Confidence in front of partners and the patience to bring sceptical colleagues with you.

Good to have

  • Experience with document automation tools (for example Contract Express, HotDocs or Avvoka).
  • Time in a law firm innovation or knowledge team.
  • Some Python, or experience evaluating AI output.

About CompleteFlow

CompleteFlow is the platform law firms use to build their own AI capability: workflows built on their own precedents, with every fact cited to the source, running the same way every time. We are a small team in London, and our team has delivered AI for the Cabinet Office, the Bank of England, the NHS and the FCDO.
